Swiss Embassy Bangkok Meeting Room Roof Extension
Project Study Meeting Room Roof Extension on the Swiss Embassy Bangkok
The existing conference room is being relocated to a newly constructed second-floor extension. This relocation allows the old meeting room to be repurposed as a canteen and breakout space for staff. The new staircase to the second floor is positioned above the existing archive room staircase but reversed in orientation for optimal flow.
The roof extension features an independent structural system, built on the first floor’s concrete column grid. It is elevated above the existing roof surface, preserving all current roof installations. To enhance the comfort and sustainability of the space, the design incorporates wooden window shutters, an overlapping balcony around the perimeter, and a green, insulated roof for natural temperature regulation.
The 50-square-meter conference room is equipped with a folding wall system, allowing it to be divided into two smaller, independently accessible meeting rooms, offering flexibility for various functions and team sizes.
